Stats: Average Day Of The Week For GigsThis shows the average day of the week upon which I have GIGGED in every year since 1998, when full records were available. Sunday is counted as Day 1, up to Saturday as Day 7.
This shows us that from 1998 to 2000 I was mostly playing gigs at the start of the week, building to a peek of Thursdays in 2004 and then slipping back towards midweek in 2006. It is a FACT in the world of ROCk that Sundays and Mondays are quiet nights for gigs, so these tend to be the nights where you get less well known bands, "local" bands, open mics and so on. Fridays and Saturdays are the Big Nights Out, generally, and so, in theory at least, the later on in the week you're playing the better you're doing. Can we THUS CONCLUDE that over the past two years I've been doing WORSE gigs? Hopefully not, no - in the past two years I've been doing an AWFUL lot MORE gigs (I did as many gigs in 2005-6 as I did in the preceding six years!) in loads more places, BREAKING NEW TERRITORIES and so playing earlier in the week. We also went on TOUR for a week, which, as I mentioned last year, will tend to SHIFT the average. The conclusion here as, I believe, it is to MANY of these stats, is that i have done a LOT of gigs! OOH!
